Air & Ground Emergency Transportation

The Air Ambulance Medevac program provides emergent air transportation for patients within the service area via a contracted fixed wing aircraft, pilot(s), and a medical crew. The crew consists of Registered Nurses, EMT2, and Physicians. BBAHC operates a Ground Ambulance for transportations to/from Aleknagik and to/from the airport.

There are limitations to remote air travel in rural Alaska which are factored into each flight and the time of day that the flight is needed - such as runway lengths, runway lights, runway conditions, and unpredictable weather. Our program may roll Flights to another air carrier if needed to expedite the transportation of critical patients. In cases where there is suspected loss of life, limb, or eyesight, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) will be contacted if no other flights are available.
