REAL ID Requirement Goes Into Effect
BBAHC reminds our patients that if you use your driver's license for air travel, a REAL ID is required as of May 7, 2025.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun enforcing the REAL ID requirement nationwide. All travelers aged 18 and older will be required to present a REAL ID-compliant form of identification at TSA security checkpoints. TSA will no longer accept non-compliant state-issued IDs for security screening, though other approved forms of identification will still be accepted:
- U.S. passports,
- Military IDs,
- Acceptable photo ID issued by a federally recognized Tribal Nation/Indian Tribe, including Enhanced Tribal Cards (ETCs)
- Other select federally recognized documents
For an updated list of acceptable forms of ID, please visit: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification.
If you do not currently have a REAL ID, visit this Alaska DMV webpage for more information: https://dmv.alaska.gov/credential-services/realidupdate/ or scan the QR code below with your phone.
