Nitaput Child Advocacy Center Earns Accreditation
The BBAHC Nitaput Child Advocacy Center (CAC) has received accreditation through the National Children's Alliance. This accreditation reflects the strength of our community partnerships, the commitment of our staff, and the shared belief that the children and families in our region deserve trauma informed, compassionate care. National Children’s Alliance accreditation is the highest standard for Child Advocacy Centers nationwide.
BBAHC started working with children in the region more than twenty years ago as the Nitaput Child Advocacy & Family Resource Center. In 2006, the CAC entered into the first Memorandum of Agreement to facilitate a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) dedicated to a trauma-informed and multifaceted response to allegations of child abuse in the Bristol Bay Region.
Our MDT includes the Nitaput Child Advocacy Center, BBAHC medical staff, the Bristol Bay Counseling Center, the Office of Children’s Services, Bristol Bay Native Association, the Dillingham Police Department, the Alaska State Troopers, the Bristol Bay Borough Police Department, the Togiak Police Department, and the Dillingham District Attorney’s office. Together we have worked hard toward meeting and sustaining all national standards for Child Advocacy Center’s and Multidisciplinary Teams.
We are proud to share this accomplishment and look forward to continuing our efforts!
