Summer Patient Travel Advisory
Planning travel for medical reasons this summer? The BBAHC Patient Travel Department wants you to know this important information before you go:
- Coordinating care for multiple appointments is required.
- Non-emergent travel may need to be rescheduled due to limited flight availability.
- Starting February 1, 2026, travelers 18 years and older who arrive at a TSA checkpoint without an acceptable ID may be required to pay a $45 identity verification fee through TSA ConfirmID. TSA strongly recommends traveling with a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification. Passengers with a valid ID will not be charged.
To learn more about TSA ConfirmID visit: https://www.tsa.gov/tsaconfirm-id
To see the full list of acceptable IDs, visit: https://bit.ly/TSA45Fee - Medicaid hotels are not accepting reservations until October 2026.
- If not directly referred by or seen at ANMC (Alaska Native Medical Center), ANTHC (Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium) Patient Housing services are not an option.
- BBAHC does not offer lodging in Anchorage.
