Laboratory

We collect and process specimens for testing on-site or for sending to one of our trusted reference laboratories. Our test results help our providers to diagnose and manage patient conditions.

Our team of laboratory professionals consists of experienced Medical Technologists, Laboratory Assistants, and Phlebotomists all working together to ensure we are producing quality services for our community.

Lab Instructions:

• Stay hydrated! It’s easier for the Phlebotomist to find your veins if you drink plenty of water.
• Fasting labs: If the doctor instructed you to fast, make sure you don’t eat or drink anything except for water for 8-12 hours before the collection.
• Wear comfortable, loose clothing that can be rolled up or removed to access your arm.
• Bring your ID. You will need to register at the front desk before getting lab work done. 
• Ensure that any sample you are bringing to the lab is labeled with your full name and date of birth, as well as the date and time the sample was collected.
• Always follow the instructions provided to you by your doctor so the results are accurate.

Special Collections:

• Glucose Tolerance Testing: This is a fasting test that will take approximately 2 hours and 3 separate blood draws. After the first draw, you will be given a sweet drink, then drawn again in 1 hour, and 1 hour after that.
• 24-hour Urine Collection: Use the collection hat (urine collection container) provided to collect urine, it’s easier than trying to aim for the opening of the jug. Keep the jug of urine refrigerated at all times to avoid overgrowth of bacteria. When bringing the jug to the lab, make sure it is labeled with your full name, date of birth, start date/time, and stop date/time. Collection should start AFTER your first urination in the morning—this will also be your start time. The next morning, you will collect your first urination of the day—this will be your stop time, around 24 hours.
