Overview
The Tobacco Prevention Program works to educate the public on the consequences of tobacco use. We also conduct school presentations, community health fairs, village clinic presentations, and other health promoting activities throughout the region. We maintain tobacco prevention and education resources: videos, brochures, fact sheets, posters, etc. Materials are available for use throughout the Bristol Bay region and can be checked out by physicians and community members alike.
- The Tobacco Cessation Program focuses on the reduction of tobacco use and the reduction of exposure to secondhand/thirdhand smoke.
- BBAHC tobacco cessation services are available to everyone living in the Bristol Bay region. Enrollment and counseling is free of charge.
How the program works:
- Individual Counseling Tobacco cessation counselors will work with you in-person or over the phone to set a quit date and develop a quit plan.
- Medication Therapy Tobacco medications ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. If you are enrolled in the BBAHC tobacco program, the following medications are available at a discounted price: Nicotine patches, Nicotine gum, and Nicotine lozenges.
- Continued Support Tobacco cessation counselors will provide follow-up support for up to one year.
